  1. For a great many women, they begin thinking about their wedding day as soon as they are old enough to start playing with dolls. While the magazine industry has experienced the same reductions in readership as the newspapers, there is one category of magazine that continues to flourish — the bridal magazines. Now aspiring brides-to-be have a new resource for ideas and examples for creating their own wedding day plans in “Simple Stunning Bride: Celebrating Your Style All the Way to the Big Day”, a 128-page and profusely illustrated compendium of pertinent information by professional wedding planner Karen Bussen. “Simple Stunning Bride” begins with invaluable and practical advice on getting started; wedding traditions and roles, ’staying sane’ during the process; the dress and accessories; fitness; beauty (drawing upon advice by celebrity artists); and the actual wedding day itself. Of special note is the concluding chapter featuring inspiration and insights from ‘real world’ experiences of brides. Enhanced with the inclusion of a Resource Guide and a thoroughly user friendly Index, “Simple Stunning Bride” will prove to be an exceedingly popular addition to any community library collection, and a ‘must’ for anyone seeking to make their wedding day a life-time memorable experience.

  2. If you’re a bride-to-be, spring means so much more than blooming tulips and picnics in the park: it means wedding plans. Blueprinting your special day may seem daunting, especially if you’re the type of woman who wants everything to be perfect. New York City-based wedding planner Karen Bussen has created an accessible, comprehensive guide that delves into the emotional and material aspects of being a bride. Everything from organization, who does what, to worldly fashion tips and exercise assistance makes this book seem like a “virtual” bridesmaid. Thorough and sweet, //Simple Stunning Bride// is a lovely gift for a bride or couple-to-be.

Keep in mind that your wedding is yours. This book might prove not to be useful when it comes to romance, the very thing that will make your ceremony meaningful. I’m no wedding planner, but I feel that it is safe to say this: buy //Simple Stunning Bride//, if you believe that planning your beautiful day–and the beginning of the rest of your life–is going to be stressful. Otherwise, enjoy the ride and find a book out there that flirts with your fantasies and leaves you feeling open to and excited about the adventure of your married life.

  3. Fresh off the printing press and in time for June wedding plans, “Simple Stunning Bride: Celebrating Your Style All the Way to the Big Day” is chock full of tips for those trying to look their best for the wedding.

Author Karen Bussen has written other six books in the Simple Stunning series from Stewart Tabori & Chang. This book focuses entirely on the bride’s preparations: getting organized, communicating, picking the right dress, choosing accessories, getting fit for the big day, beauty tips from celebrity artists and general wisdom for a great day.

The advice is well organized, breaking tips into small bits for easier consumption. As she notes, weddings can lead to confusion and resentments if things aren’t handled well. This book can head off some of those problems.

Brides whose big day is coming up in three months may be tempted to start in the middle, since some of the earlier chapters apply to events farther along in the calendar. But don’t. Good advice about remaining calm, accepting the help of others and learning to enjoy the day applies to everything in the run-up, regardless of the specifics.

Numerous photos accompany the advice, adding color and beauty to a very helpful book.
