  1. Poorly done– Presented like a junior high school report– cheaply bound– lacks organization– Definitely amateurish.

  2. I bought this book in hopes that it would help my fiance understand that there is a lot of work that goes into planning a wedding and that his participation would be extremely helpful. This book was not at all what I was looking for. In fact, I hid it from him once I received it – for fear he might actually READ it and think that it WAS what was expected of him.

The book is geared towards the other men in the bridal party. It rarely addresses the groom.

I suppose that a groom might find some insight in this book, but his bride would probably be disappointed in the things that the book tells him.

If you are a bride looking for a way to help your fiance through the planning of your wedding, I recommend sitting him down in a chair and explaining it to him yourself. This book will not help you. If you are a groom who is interested in helping with the wedding, or is curious about what is expected of you, I recommend asking your bride. This book will not help you.

I do not recommend this book.

  3. It seems to happen all too frequently, someone is asked to be a best man and he has no idea of his responsibilities. It just isn’t something that happens every day, after all. Then, several weeks before the wedding he is running around with his hair on fire trying not to mess up the most important day in his best friend’s life. It’s even harder when the best man is out of state. Mr. Van Deusen’s book is a must. So clearly written and well organized, it takes the unknown out of this special honor. My advice is to do yourself a favor and help out your best man. For a small fee you’ve put him on the road to success – and your bride will be glad you did!

  4. This book reads like a high school term paper (i.e. 50 pages of courier font). For example, “If a bachelor party is planned, it can be held at the Groom’s house, in a club, hotel, restaurant, or possibly in a back room of a nightclub . . . .” Real helpful. I doubt that anyone would pay more than a couple of dollars for this book in a bookstore.

  5. i bought this book for my fiance hopping it would begin to clear up some of his questions. When we read the book it was more for the best man and groomsmen. It answers none of the questions for the groom. It would make a great gift to the males in your party. If you are looking for a book for the groom this is not the book.
